It’s time for Celtic to drop Abada

Liel Abada looked like a revelation in his first few games for Celtic. Scoring goals, making assists and burning past opposition defenders for fun with his blistering pace. And at only 20 years old we looked to have a future star on our hands.

As the games went on, his performances dipped to where he was having a poor game more often than not, however he was still popping up with important goals, which is a fantastic asset to have as a player, especially in a wide player, and one so young, that even in the poor games they still have a knack of getting into the box at the right time and putting the ball in the back on the net. You can’t teach that. It’s instinct.

But now, the performances are still poor, bordering on terrible at times. And the goals and assists have also dried up. Compared to Jota on the opposite side it is night and day.

With James Forrest coming back into the side and making instant contributions each game, Ange Postecoglou now needs to take Abada out of the side and Forrest needs to be starting.

Nothing personal against Abada, I like him a lot as a player and he seems like a good lad, and I expect him to have a bright future with us, we have seen what he’s capable of at his best, and at only 20 years old, there are still a lot of improvements to come in his game. But Forrest has shown in the last few games when he has played, that he now needs to be our first choice on the right hand side.
