Sir Rod Stewart was on Talksport today catching up with Jim White, Trevor Sinclair and Simon Jordan, there’s a video on their Youtube channel around 7 minutes long which is a good watch. Sir Rod, a massive Celtic and Scotland fan, despite being an Englishman as he talks about on the show, singled out one player for enormous praise.
That player of course is Jota, currently displaying his immense talent for Celtic on loan from Benfica, performing fantastically well both domestically and in the Europa League this season.
Stewart talked about the late, great Jimmy Johnstone, the way he would beat a player, go back and beat him again and said “I’ll tell you who’s like that now, is Jota, who’s playing for Celtic on the wing, he is in the same vein”
Trever Sinclair then responded by talking about the fact Jota hasn’t yet signed permanently for Celtic, with Sir Rod responding “Come on guys, we’ve got to make him sign!”
It sounds like Sir Rod Stewart is just like every other Celtic supporter at the moment who has fallen in love with Jota, and the magical skills and goals he is contributing regularly to each game he plays at the moment. Hopefully the club can get him signed up permanently in the coming window. The sooner the better.
