The Scottish main stream media have a habit of making stuff up or making educated guesses, in order to claim an ‘exclusive’ story. But their most recent made up story is their most laughable I’ve heard in a while.
The Daily Record have claim that Celtic have agreed an option to buy with on loan Spurs defender Carter-Vickers, which has apparently just come out is going to cost Celtic £10m. When I first heard the story I thought it was a wind-up but now other media outlets are running with the same story but tellingly, they haven’t backed it up with their own sources, they just refer to the Daily Record story about it.
Does anyone in their right mind believe that Spurs would demand that kind of fee for a player who clearly doesn’t have a future there and has been constantly sent out on loan?
Does anyone in their right mind think that Celtic would actually have agreed to shattering their own transfer record for Carter-Vickers?
The story is absolutely outrageous, considering Celtic weren’t prepared to pay the reported £5m-£6m asking price for the defender in the Summer, does anyone really believe they would agree to pay an extra £4m-£5m on top of that?
Cameron Carter-Vickers is a good player, he’s done well at Celtic since coming in, but come next Summer, the club might feel even £5m-£6m is pretty rich for his services full time, considering that Jota is only going to cost us slightly more than that to make his move permanent, the club may feel they can get better value for money elsewhere.
