Imagine that. Celtic going out of the Europa League while Sevco go through to the knock out stages with less points than us, while we had the much harder group.
If this happened, and there is a decent possibility of that happening, then it would do a number of things.
Firstly, it would restore some pride. If we manage to finish the group with a win against a team currently sitting 3rd in La Liga, that would be a really good boost not only for the team, but the club as a whole and our supporters. We have already shown in the first game against them that we can absolutely compete with them, they just out gunned us on the night, but we gave them absolute hell and we are a much better side now than we were then. A win would be a nice boost to go into the Conference League with.
Another thing it would do is give up some bragging rights back. They had a laugh that we dropped out of the Europa League and they went through, but if we actually end up with more points from a much harder group, then can they really say that is a bigger achievement than sneaking through on 7 points from the weakest group in the competition? Debatable.
And finally, it would be a psychological advantage. Winning against a top quality side like Betis would give the players a massive boost with some really important games coming up. If the players know they can win against a team like Betis, then the league cup final and the Glasgow derby on Jan 2nd, should not worry them one bit.
