It’s time to give our manager a long term contract

Ange Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air since taking his seat in the Parkhead dugout on a 12 month rolling contract. His style of football, his signings, his personality from the warm way he embraces supporters, to the cold manner in which he treats the biased press in this country, he is the full package and everything you could want in a manager.

But maybe the most important quality big Ange has is what we saw from him yesterday, is that he will stand up for his players. And as he said when he first arrived he will stand up for this football club.

We are already much further ahead than anyone expected us to be. We are still in Europe in the New Year, we are in a league cup final, and we are in touching distance of Sevco at the top of the league table, with them having to visit us on the 2nd January. And we’ve got this far by playing fast, exciting football. In my opinion we will win the league.

However, if that doesn’t happen, I have still seen enough from Ange Postecoglou that come the end of the season, even if we miss out on the league title, I firmly believe the club is heading in the right direction and that we will go from strength to strength in the coming years, if we continue with Ange at the helm.

Ange had the courage to stand up for Kyogo in the media yesterday. It’s time for our board to now show the same support towards the gaffer, and back him long term. Time to rip up the 12 month rolling contract and had him a 4 year deal.

We did it for Rodgers. Ange deserves the same respect.
