Celtic are now without their 3 available first team strikers after Kyogo and Ajeti both had to leave the field of play last night with hamstring injuries. They join Giorgos Giakoumakis on the sidelines who is out due to a recurring knee injury.
After Kyogo went off last night it seemed to be a mix of Mikey Johnston and Abada who lead the line as the lone striker. Abada has more of an eye for goal than Johnston and has previously played as a striker at times in Israel, apparently scoring 4 goals from 7 starts in that position.
Mikey Johnston has played as a striker in the past for Celtic when needed, but didn’t play too well in that position and is better on the wing, but it all depends on what the manager see from him in training.
James Forrest has also played up front on rare occasions for us, again, he isn’t really suited to the role and far better on the wing, but he does score quite a lot of goals from us and in my opinion is probably the best finisher out of the three mentioned so far.
One wildcard option that I see a lot of Celtic supporters mentioning is young Rocco Vata. Currently playing in Celtic’s B team, by all reports he is doing very well and scoring quite often, although from what I understand he also isn’t a natural striker and plays more of an attacking midfield role or on the right wing.
It will be interesting to see who Ange goes with on Sunday to lead the line as we welcome Motherwell to Celtic Park.
