Celtic fans shouldn’t be surprised if top clubs come in for Ralston in January

We all know how immense Anthony Ralston has been for Celtic this season. His hard work, commitment, desire and skill have been on display for us all season. He has scored vital goals for us, like the winner against Ross County last night, provided many assists, and on top of that has played his part in Celtic having the best defensive record in the league this season.

We all know how he was rated in previous years and that many felt he didn’t have a future at the club. But let’s look at here and now.

Ralston has only just turned 23 years old. He is a physical specimen in terms of his speed, strength and his ability to get up and down the pitch all game without slowing down. He has improved a great deal defensively, his crossing is much better, he has already scored 5 goals for Celtic this season, 4 goals in 15 league games. For a right back to be scoring once every 4 games (one that doesn’t take free kicks and penalties) is a sensational return.

Ralston has also been playing well in the Europa League for Celtic this season and has just been called up to the Scotland squad in recent times and made his debut in the last game against Denmark.

EPL clubs looking for players will look at age, physical attributes, skill, performances, goal contributions and work ethic. Ralston ticks all these boxed.

We keep hearing all this hype about Nathan Paterson, how EPL clubs want him for £8m. In my opinion Paterson is a good young player, but according to his current manager and his previous one, he isn’t even good enough to start week in week out for Sevco.

Yet we have a young Scottish talent ourselves in the same position, who HAS PROVEN that he can play for a club like Celtic week in and week out, both domestically and in Europe.

Don’t be surprised if Ralston gets linked with an EPL move himself in the coming weeks.
