Michael Nicholson off to a flyer as Celtic Chief Executive

Many Celtic supporters were unhappy that Michael Nicholson was made permanent chief executive at the club after being put in temporary charge after the shock exit of Dom Mckay just 10 weeks into his role.

Many supporters felt he was forced out as the current board in place were too stuck in their ways and that Nicholson was just an ‘in house’ appointment and it would be the same old story. A mini Peter Lawwell, only concerned with the bottom line and dragging out transfers to the end of the window and leavings us short of quality for hugely important European qualifiers.

But it seems manager Ange Postecoglou has a very good relationship with Nicholson, he said it was actually Nicholson that we worked closely with in the Summer to get most of our deals over the line, rather than Mckay. He also stated recently he has told Nicholson what he needs and he has left it in his hands to get the players in that he has asked for.

And with the announcement today from the club confirming the signatures of Maeda, Ideguchi and Hatate, before the window has even opened, it shows that Nicholson is not messing about and as I reported earlier today, there are rumours that there may be a couple more players in very soon too. You can read that here: Celtic transfer rumours: Gudmundsson, Wolf, Kenny, Boyle, Souttar – Champions 67

As I said in the headline, with these signings already announced Nicholson is off to a flyer in his first window as chief executive. If our signings carry on at this pace and Ange gets in everyone that he wants early doors, then we will all be delighted.
