It was a bad night last night for Celtic. There is no denying that. The performance was extremely poor all round.
Criticism is quite rightly deserved. But what isn’t acceptable for me is our pundits in the media, who are supposed to be talking up our game, making jokes and snide remarks.
Guys like Alex Rae and Ally McCoist. We know where their allegiances lie, but that doesn’t mean it’s ok to come across as bitter wee a*seholes and totally unprofessional.
Everyone knows how hard it is for Scottish teams like Celtic to get the respect we deserve, especially from the English media and from English pundits on big platforms like Talksport. So when we have Scottish pundits on there like McCoist, who take every opportunity he can get these days to make fun of Celtic in some way, what bloody chance have you got?
Chris Sutton came out last night and praised Sevco for their result and performance last night. This was on his personal Twitter account. He didn’t need to do that, he hates that club, but he genuinely cares about Scottish football and wants to see it respected.
Then you have the polar opposite, cretins like Alex Rae who only care about sticking the boot into Celtic.
Scottish football will continue to be a laughing stock as long as we have guys like this in the media who can’t see the bigger picture, or simply don’t care, as long as they get their wee dig in.
