The only thing I was shocked at today is that referee Don Robertson actually gave a red card for Kayne Ramsay’s shocking challenge on Tom Rogic.
Why? Because he normally gives opposition players free reign to butcher Celtic players.
Talking of butchers, it was Dundee Utd player Callum Butcher who went flying in with a sickening studs up challenge on David Turnbull which could easily have broken his leg. And of course, Don Robertson was the referee that day, and thought the challenge was only worthy of a yellow card.
Ans it’s not just me being biased as a Celtic fan, it went to an SFA panel who unanimously decided it should have been a red card, as well as Sky Sports referee Dermot Gallagher also agreeing, with ex pro in the Sky Sports studio at the time Stephen Warnock calling it ‘a leg-breaker’. Butcher was retrospectively given three match man.
Against Alloa, again with Don Robertson in charge, he let their players kick us up and down the park, with thug Mouhamed Niang only shown a yellow card for a despicable challenge on Yosuke Ideguchi, which put the Japanese man out for a considerable amount of time.
Again, when looked at by a panel of officials, it was unanimously decided it should have been a red card, with Niang getting a retrospective two game ban.
I heard on Clyde SSB the other night that they are actually the only two tackles that players have been retrospectively banned for this season.
Both challenges on Celtic players, both under the rule of Don Robertson.
That is worrying,
And here he was at it again today. Robertson was absolutely to blame for Rogic getting injured today, because that tackle should have never been allowed to happen. The player could easily seen red for his two footed knee high challenge on Maeda, and because Robertson didn’t even give him a booking, Ramsay felt it was perfectly acceptable to go to flying into tackles two footed, so no surprise he did it again shortly after that first incident.
Rogic went off injured and hopefully he won’t be out too long, but with Don Robertson in charge, our players are not safe on the field of play.
Celtic must act on this. It has already gone way too far.
Robertson should not be allowed to officiate us. He is a danger to our players.
