In the know Celtic account on Twitter @Celtic67Fins72 has posted this afternoon that he believes Celtic will be looking at signing Bodo Glimt forward Ola Solbakken this Summer.
The Norwegian attacker had two stand out games against Celtic in the European Conference League this season, and Ange was apparently interested in taking player to Celtic last summer, but for whatever reason he either decided against it or the move didn’t materialize.
Solbakken is tall at over 6ft1, but is still very agile and a good dribbler of the ball, and he typically plays on the right hand side of a forward 3 for Glimt.
This would definitely give Ange an extra option, considering we normally go with either Abada or Jota in that position, who are both short players, especially Abada at only 5ft6 or so, with Jota a bit taller at 5ft9.
Solbakken has scored 9 goals in 50 appearances for Glimt, a decent goal return but not outstanding, but you’d have to think that working with Ange, and only being 23 years old, this is definitely an area he will likely improve on.
Solbakken also made his debut for Norway towards the end of last year, and will no doubt expect to receive some more caps this year too.
Most interestingly, his contact expires at end of this year, on 31st December 2022.
This could mean Celtic could get him for an absolute bargain, but no doubt there will be a lot of clubs interested in the player, especially given his European performances this season.
