“LEVELS” – Giakoumakis v Morelos Stats Reveal Difference In Quality

It was a fantastic day at Celtic Park yesterday as Celtic thrashed Motherwell 6-0 to cap off a wonder title winning season for the home side.

The trophy celebrations after were absolutely magical, as were the fantastic scenes in Glasgow city centre after the match, as tens of thousands of fans covered the streets in a sea of green and white as they celebrated an incredible title triumph.

The two final goals from the six yesterday were scored by Greek striker Giorgos Giakoumakis, as he came off the bench just after the hour mark to replace Kyogo Furuhashi, who also scored a brace himself, with two sublime finishes, especially his second one.

The final goal from Giakoumakis in the 91st minute yesterday, ensured he finished the season as joint top goal scorer in the league, alongside Ross County attacker Regan Charles-Cook.

Of course, this fact upset the Sevco fan base, as they felt that Morelos would have finished top goal scorer if he wasn’t injured.

But what is also fact, is that Morelos has already played over twice the minutes that Giakoumakis has played, yet has two less goals that the Greek powerhouse.

That just proves that Giakoumakis is a far better striker than Morelos, and of course he also missed much of the season himself through injury or being on the bench with Kyogo starting ahead of him, much like yesterday.

You have to think that if Giakoumakis even played as much minutes as Morelos this season, he would easily be on around 25 goals or more.

As the tweet below shows, there are levels to this game, and Giakoumakis is at a far greater level than the huffy Colombian.
