“What A Waste”, “Money Grabber” “Cost Us The 10” – Some Celtic Fans Aren’t Happy With Ex Player’s Latest Announcement

As a Celtic supporter, and perhaps most of you will agree, I have mixed feelings when it comes to big Fraser Forster.

He was amazing for us, he really was.

One of the best shot stoppers we have had at our club without question.

When you play against the best Barcelona side in history, and the Catalan press label you ‘La Gran Muralla’ – meaning The Great Wall, that tells you everything you need to know about his quality between the sticks.

Forster played for Celtic over a number of seasons, on loan for two years before joining permanently from Newcastle, he then made a £10m move to Southampton but came back to Celtic for another season on loan to help us clinch our ninth league title in a row.

Many Celtic fans feel that although he was picking up huge wages at Southampton, that he was wasted down there, at times being unbelievably dropped to third choice keeper, and a lot of the time he was no more than second choice.

A keeper of Forster’s quality should have been playing week in and week out, either at Celtic or at another EPL club, it was criminal that he seemed content to be a back up goalie at Southampton, especially when Celtic were interested in taking him back up the road on a permanent basis, Forster seemed content to pick up more money as a bench warmer at a smaller club.

Forster has now moved to Spurs on a 2 year deal, once again to be a back up keeper for Hugo Lloris.

It’s a real shame as at 34 years old, Forster probably has another 6+ years in the game at the highest level, and he deserves to be playing games, not wasting away on the bench, but he mas made his choice to chase the money once again.

Take a look at some of the reaction from Celtic fans to his latest move below.
