Football Scotland reported last night that Celtic are closing in on a move for exciting Lanus left back Alexandro Bernabei.
Multiple tabloids such as the Scottish Sun and Daily Record have also ran with the story.
Multiple reports/rumours are now doing the rounds that Bernabei has left his native Argentina, and is currently in Europe, getting his passport sorted out in preparation for the move to Scotland.
From watching the video below, Bernabei looks like an ideal player to have playing as an inverted left back under Ange Postecoglou at Celtic.
As you’ll see, he is lighting fast, has good control of the ball, can go by players with ease, and importantly for the role, he seems very comfortable cutting inside and driving forwards through the centre of the midfield.
At just 21 years of age, I would guess a 5 year contract will be offered to the player.
So far there doesn’t seem to be any mention of what sort of fee would be involved, but again my best guess is that it would be a relatively modest one, and his wages likely will be too, with this being his big move to Europe and coming from a small club in Argentina.
From all the videos I’ve seen of our potential left back targets this summer, this player excites me the most.
Check out Bernabei in action below.
