Controversial referee Bobby Madden has announced that he will no longer referee games in Scotland as he plans on entering the English football league system.
Madden, who many have said was formerly a season ticket holder at Ibrox before he took up refereeing in the Scottish top flight, is considered one of the top refs in the country, and is often appointed to referee Glasgow derbies and cup finals.
Madden was highly criticised by Celtic supporters last year, as he was accused of constantly blowing for innocuous fouls, which prevented us getting into our rhythm of free flowing, fast paced football, or ‘angeball’ as it is better known amongst Celtic supporters.
Unfortunately, there are still many other poor referees in Scotland, in fact it’s difficult to name any good ones!
With this being said, I don’t have much hope that Madden’s replacement will be any better.
Celtic fans have been reacting to the news of Madden’s departure from the Scottish game on Twitter today.
