Football Analyst Reveals Incredible Giakoumakis Celtic Stat

@OptaAnalyst on Twitter, or ‘The Analyst’ is a football statistics organisation that show stats from Europe’s top leagues and teams.

Today, football writer Sacha Pisani, has revealed some of the stats collected on Celtic last season.

One of the more incredible ones, is on Greek striker Giorgos Giakoumakis.

It shows the deadline day signing from the summer window in 2021 scored an incredible 1.11 goals per 90 mins in the league last season.

And this is when he only played 1,058 mins, so going off his stats, he would have scored 42 goals had he played every minute of our league campaign last season.

Frightening!

We are fortunate to have two terrific strikers at the club in Kyogo and Giakoumakis.

Ange always seems to play with one striker up top with two wingers, and as we had a successful season, there wasn’t really any strong calls to change it and play with both Kyogo and Giakoumakis together up front.

I feel that if we go through a bad patch at any point or if we aren’t scoring as much, the calls will start coming from supporters to play both of them together.

Maybe it’s something we could experiment with in pre-season? It would be very interesting to see how they gel together as a partnership.

It’s just such a shame that one of them has to be benched for the other currently, but as long as we keep having success, it is likely to stay that way.

Check out the crazy stat below.
