Celtic Park has come top of a poll conducted by 1Sports1, a world football news site, and published today in TheSportsman, for the best atmosphere in British football.
Of course, we all know that we have the best supporters and create the best atmosphere, especially during European nights and in the Glasgow derby matches in particular, but it is still great to be recognised by outside publications and the general public as being the best.
Sevco were the only other Scottish team included in the top 10, with Ibrox coming 7th in the poll overall.
I guess the stadium DJ blasting out ‘I’m feeling it’ every single European tie wasn’t enough to sway the vote in their favour, or the constant racist and sectarian chanting that can be heard coming from their supporters every home game.
Celtic Park is a stadium where everyone is welcome, we celebrate Celtic, our players old and present, and support the team on the park with a variety of songs and chants, both for the team as a whole and some great chants for individual players.
Maybe if they did the same over at Ibrox, rather than singing about their hatred for Catholics and the Irish, they might just make it into the top 5 next year…
