Good News As Jullien Option To Buy Fee Believed To Be DOUBLE That Of Initial Fee Reported

After Celtic’s French centre back Christopher Jullien put up a picture looking out of an aeroplane window last night, it was only a matter of time before news broke of where he was heading.

Initial reports indicated that Schalke, Rennes and Lorient were all interested in doing a deal for the player in the region of £1.5m, with Jullien now entering the last year of his contract.

However, it seems Celtic have been smart enough to give themselves an option of a further year extension, as they seem to do with a lot of players these days, and they have indeed activated that extra year in Jullien’s contract.

This clears up the confusion after Fabrizio Romano tweeted late this morning that the deal for Jullien to Schalke was a season long loan deal with an option to buy included.

This information was actually already cleared up last night by ‘in the know’ Celtic fan account @SeanS1967 on Twitter.

He confirmed before all others that it was indeed Schalke that he was heading to out of the three clubs rumoured to be interested in the Frenchman, and he has also confirmed that not only has the one year extension been triggered by Celtic, it will actually cost Schalke £3m to buy Jullien permanently, not the £1.5m that was originally reported by other journalists.
