Celtic Lining Up Move For Germany U-21 Striker Erik Shuranov

‘In the know’ Celtic account on Twitter, @SeanS1967 has posted another transfer updated this afternoon.

Fresh after revealing that Vinicius Souza is ‘in advanced talks with Celtic’, he has now confirmed that Celtic are looking at Nurnberg and German U-21 striker Erik Shuranov.

It has been reported since the start of the transfer window that Celtic are looking at adding another striker to compete with Kyogo and Giakoumakis next season.

Shuranov would definitely fit the bill as he it isn’t really necessary for us to bring in another striker that is going to keep GG or Kyogo out of the side as they are two top class strikers and it would be hard to get better than them, but as we saw last season when both were out for long periods through injury, it is going to be helpful to have another good striker in the squad, with Albian Ajeti obviously not cutting the mustard.

Shuranov is 6ft tall and came up through the ranks at Nurnberg and previously played youth international football for Ukraine, before switching to Germany, where he has scored 2 goals in 7 appearances for the u-21 team.

He has also scored 7 goals in 23 appearances for Nurnberg. He shouldn’t cost much as Nurnberg play in the 2nd division and is rated at £2.70 on transfermarket, although those valuations should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Why did we sign Johhny Kenny if we need to go for a 2nd Tier Bundesliga team? Signings for the B Team really confuse me, why not just let youth come through?
