‘In the know’ Twitter account @Celtic67Fins72 On Twitter has given Celtic supporters an exciting update this evening.
With latest reports in Turkey suggesting it is now down to a two horse race between ourselves and Fenerbahce for Souza’s signature, it looks like the player is favouring a move to Celtic Park.
Apparently, Souza has already spoken with Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou, and as we know from what Joe Hart and Matt O’Riley have said about their decision to join Celtic after speaking with Ange, it seems like he just has that knack of saying the right things to players, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear if this has swayed Souza’s decision.
Of course, playing for a massive club like Celtic in front on 60k supporters and being guaranteed Champions League football next season will also be a massive factor in Souza’s decision.
Reports in Turkey also seem to claim that the player is likely unaffordable for Fenerbahce to purchase, and figures between 5-8m euros have been mentioned.
Any deal that Celtic do will most likely be a loan deal with an option to buy, which of course has proven to be a successful way of doing business by looking at how well CCV and Jota did for Celtic last season before we signed them permanently this window.
Celtic are due to fly out to Austria tomorrow for their pre-season training camp, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Souza ends up joining the bhoys over there within the next few days, as the speculation continues to intensify over his next move, and the player apparently wanting his future sorted out ASAP, along with The City Group moving multiple players about over the last few days.
