Celtic Manager Confirms How Many More Signings He Is Looking To Make This Summer

It has certainly been an excellent summer transfer window for Celtic and manager Ange Postecoglou so far.

We have signed a new exciting left back in Alexandro Bernabei, a new goal keeper to challenge Joe Hart in Ben Siegrist, and of course the two permanent signings of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota, which has delighted supporters and shows that the club are looking to keep progressing as a team.

There have been strong rumours that Celtic are after a combative defensive midfield player this window, who can also take hold of the ball and start attacks from the back, with Vinicius Souza our main focus in the last week or two, but it still looks rather unlikely that deal is going to happy, with so many more clubs in better leagues showing an interest in the player, but that will still remain a priority position for Ange until we have a new player signed up to play that role.

Rumours have also circulated that we would like another striker and centre back, but I suppose that could depend on if Jullien stays or not and how well he does in pre-season in terms of centre back, and also how well the likes of Johnny Kenny does in the pre-season games, after he scored 2 goals tonight and was very close to grabbing his hat-trick before Jullien challenged him for the goal to claim it himself. If he continues to look good and scoring goals, the manager could well have a change of heart about needing another striker.

Here is what the manager has had to say on any further signings this window, speaking after the 7-0 friendly win tonight:

“I still think there are one two areas where we need some more robustness in terms of the squad, just some quality in depth. I wouldn’t expect too many but there are still one or two areas I’m looking to strengthen knowing what’s ahead for us.”

“It has been good so far. It has been pretty well chronicled that 12 months ago it was chaotic. In January and now we are working in a way that we know what we are after. We identify targets and then make sure we take the time to get the ones we want, so that has been good.”

“It was very pleasing to get Jota and Cam on board permanently. They were massive contributors last season and we think there is more in them. To get them on-board is great and with Alexandro and Benji coming in that helps with the quality across the board.”

“We are definitely looking to bring in one or two more before the window closes. Again it is about identifying what we want and making sure they fit all aspects and we are working towards that.”
