After Celtic’s 7-0 win in their first pre-season match on Wednesday evening again a third tier Austrian side, the bhoys stepped up the gears significantly as they took on Rapid Vienna this evening.
As many have said, including manager Ange Postecoglou himself, the game didn’t really play out like a friendly at all, it was much more competitive than your typical pre-season match, with plenty of strong tackles flying in.
Celtic pretty much played two separate teams, making 10 changes at half time, with only right back Osaze Urhoghide playing the full 90 mins.
It was a great test for Celtic, especially at this stage of the season, and that game will stand us in good stead going forward, and will really help us working towards having a strong start to the domestic season at the end of this month.
That is something that obviously didn’t happen last season, losing three of our first six games. But now we have a much stronger and settled side, that is almost certainly not going to happen again, and we will be looking to show our dominance right from the off.
