After weeks of hyping up 2 week wonder Calvin Bassey and claiming he is worth £25m plus, some Sevco fans are very frustrated that the club appear to have bottled the transfer negotiations with Ajax.
Reliable sources such as Fabrizio Romano and even their own fan media have confirmed the fee is 22m euros, with the potential of 5m euros in add ons and a 10% sell on fee.
That’s £18.73m guaranteed. Quite a bit less than the £25m they were holding out for.
Unfortunately, Sevco don’t have an experienced and firm negotiator like Celtic did in Peter Lawwell, and immediately snatched at the first big offer presented to them.
There is a 32 page thread over on Follow Follow dedicated to Bassey’s transfer to Ajax, and it is an absolute sh*t show!
It’s a mixture of people delighted he’s going, countless boring drivel about exchange rates and getting confused between pounds and euros and countless other posters who already seem to have the potential add ons and potential future sell on fee in Sevco’s bank.
Every third comment is asking what the official fee is, despite it being quoted by Heart and Hand in the very first post, clearly hoping that someone will eventually say the official fee is £25m or over to match the Tierney fee, as of course that is what this is all about for them.
