The long term injury suffered by huffy Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos could prove to be very costly for Sevco, in more ways than one!
The player has already been out since March and missed the title run in and Europa League Final, and it looks to be a good while yet before he returns to action.
Manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst didn’t give any any specific dates on when Morelos would be expected to back playing again, simply stating that it should be in ‘the coming weeks’.
However, Sevco fan media partners Heart & Hand gave out some more information while questioned by fake cancer sufferer Chris McLaughlin on Twitter, providing the poor bears with the information that Morelos will not be back until “September at the earliest”.
Oh dear!
So as it stands, Morelos is set to miss both sets of Champions League qualifying rounds, should they progress to the play-offs, and also the first five Scottish Premiership matches of the season.
With September’s first game of the month coming on the 3rd against us, he could very well miss the Glasgow derby too.
And this news could also prove very costly for Sevco on the transfer front too!
Morelos also in the final year of his contract and able to leave for free next summer or sign a pre-contract in January, it could prove very difficult to sell him, given that he would have to pass a strenuous medical with his new club, which could prove very difficult to do if still not fully fit or still injured.
