Despite the Scottish media doing their best to help out Sevco and drum up interest in crocked Colombian Alfredo Morelos, it seems like there still aren’t any takers for his signature.
The Scottish Sun have ran a story tonight, claiming the Ibrox club are ‘braced for bids’ for their star striker, and have given the odds on the next club to sign him.
This is what the Sun have written on the matter:
“Aston Villa appear to be at the front of the queue to sign the Colombian star should Gers look to cash in on him this window.
Paddy Power make the Villans 3/1 favourites to sign Morelos in this transfer window.
Boss Steven Gerrard knows the 26-year-old extremely well from their time together in Glasgow and was hailed for getting through to his star striker after a string of disciplinary issues.”
So, back to square one in the Morelos transfer Bingo, seemingly linking him with a move to Villa, simply because Steven Gerrard is their manager.
This is despite Gerrard bashing the player publicly for his poor goal scoring form towards the end of Gerrard’s tenure, and rumours of a feisty relationship between the two of them over the last few seasons.
Listen, I’m not going to rule out a club making an actual bid for him and him leaving, because he is in the final year of his contract and he is going to leave sooner or later, but we hear this every single window and no club ever seriously comes in for him, despite the media’s best attempts to drum up interest and hike up his price tag.
This story just looks like Ibrox PR plant, asking the press to do what they can so they don’t lose him on a free next summer.
