Reported Celtic target Mohammad Abu Fani has already helped his potential new club gain a UEFA Champions League windfall, before even joining the team!
Fani scored the fourth and final goal as his current club Maccabi Haifa stunned Greek Champions Olympiakos with a 4-0 win away from home, after a 1-1 draw in Israel.
Knowledgeable Celtic Twitter user @Moravcik67_ tonight confirmed that as Olympiakos were ranked above Celtic in the 10 year co-efficient, the result should mean that we receive an extra £950,000 co-efficient payment.
We were already reportedly set to earn £7.7m for this based on our current standing, so to earn almost £1m extra is a fantastic boost for the club.
The final goal could be Fani’s last for Maccabi, after it was revealed that he would be allowed to leave the Israeli Champions after this round of Champions League qualifiers had finished, with a host of European clubs apparently interested such as Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Royal Antwerp, along with Celtic.
The player looked quite sombre in his celebrations after scoring, which usually indicates that a player has probably played his last game for the club.
