It looks like James McCarthy’s disappointing period as a Celtic player is about to come to an end.
The 31 year old Irish midfielder signed a 4 year contract at the club last summer, which many felt at the time was a mistake to offer him a contract that long, considering his injury record, and hindsight has proven that theory correct.
McCarthy has barely started a game for Celtic, normally only appearing as a late substitute when we are a few goals up.
He just doesn’t look good enough to play in Ange Postecoglou’s side, and the sooner McCarthy moves on to pastures new, the better.
And it looks like that could be soon, as journalist Fraser Fletcher reported on Twitter this afternoon.
“James McCarthy is looking to move after a difficult time at Celtic. I’m told the 31 year old is disappointed with how things have gone and seeking a new challenge for the season . Interest is there and some offers being prepared.”
Celtic Rumours on Twitter have also reported that Sunderland are keen on signing the player.

Fraser Fletcher is hun scum, just like every other “journalist” at the DR, please do not quote or link anything from any of them. All are sworn enemies of our club.
As for McCarthy…? Wrong time, wrong manager for the lad. He might have done well under a Lenny but he’s not going to cut the mustard for Ange clearly. Good luck to him wherever he goes.
