Celtic supporters have seen how this story play out before!
Former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has given a very downbeat interview this afternoon, a couple of days out from Leicester City’s opening Premier League game of the new season at home to Brentford.
Rodgers spoke about not wanting to sell his best players, with rumours that Newcastle will be preparing another bid to prise James Maddison away from the club, with Leicester most recently knocking back Β£50m for the player and slapping a Β£60m price tag on his head.
But reading between the lines and looking at Rodger’s demeanour throughout the interview today, you can tell that it’s only going to be a matter of time before the player heads to Tyneside.
Rodgers was also very downbeat about the possibility of strengthening his side this window, basically telling the media that the board won’t give him the funds to do so.
Celtic have have of course seen this all before, with Rodgers apparently leaving Celtic for the same reason, as he felt the club did not match his ambition moving forward and that he had achieved everything he could at the club.
Many Celtic supporters still feel resentment towards Rodgers, but for me, it’s water under the bridge now, we have a great manager in Ange Postecoglou and I’m very happy with how that has all worked out and I look back at Rodgers extremely successful time at the club with a lot of fondness.
As you will see from the comments below though, not every Celtic supporter feels the same way, most probably don’t and they also believe that after watching his latest media conference, that he will soon be heading for the exit door at Leicester too.
