Now, if you have read what I have written about the Tierney and Dembele ‘windfall’ stories recently, you know I am very sceptical about them.
Mainly because these two players get linked with big money moves every single window without fail and the press tell us we are in line for a a windfall and it never happens.
However, this story is different, as it doesn’t involve any of those two players and instead involves former Celtic right back Jeremie Frimpong, who now plays for Bayern Leverkusen after Lennon sanctioned an £11m sale for the player back in January 2020.
Barcelona are apparently interested in signing the player, but not only that, according to reporter Gerard Romero, Frimpong is actually Barca’s No.1 target on their five man shortlist.
I haven’t seen any figures quoted for the player, but I’d guess the fee will probably be anywhere between £30m-£50m, with Celtic receiving a 10-15% sell on fee.
Again, the Celtic board won’t be getting excited just yet, but this one looks far more likely I’d say based on these reports.
