We are now into the final day of the summer transfer window and it looks like Celtic will be making a signing that supporters have been crying out for ever since the window opened.
Celtic have been heavily rumoured to be interested in Danish defensive midfielder Oliver Abildgaard from Rubin Kazan as manager Ange Postecoglou looks to add some steel to his midfield.
And now transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a deal in in place to sign the 6ft4 powerhouse.
And Celtic fans can now get even more excited after Russian football expert David Sansun has given us the lowdown on the “blocking machine” that he describes as an “unbelievable signing” for Celtic.
David tweeted late last night:
“OK I’m seeing Oliver Abildgaard being linked to Celtic. I put the dampeners on Starfelt and Haksabanovic, but Abildgaard is a top, top quality player and would be very comfortable in the SFPL. Would be an unbelievable signing.”
“Rubin were just nowhere near as good when he wasn’t in the team. Great ball winning midfielder, a little aggressive, big, strong, good mentality. Keeps things simple on the ball, very left footed but also very comfortable with the ball.“
“Abildgaard is a blocking machine too.”
That sounds exactly what we are crying out for, especially in Europe and derby matches.
