Video: Strength, Power, Finesse – Check Out New Celtic Signing In Action

After 48 hours of intense speculation, Celtic have officially announced the signing of Danish midfielder Oliver Abildgaard on a season long loan deal.

He is the second signing from Russian side Rubin Kazan during this window after Celtic signed attacker Sead Haksabanovic from them last week, with Swedish centre back Carl Starfelt also coming in from the Russian side last summer.

Looking at the video below, Abildgaard looks exactly what Celtic have been needing to add to the team, as it became evident last season that the midfield was lacking some steel, mainly in Europe and in Glasgow derby matches.

The Danish midfielder is very tall at 6ft4 and as you would expect is fantastic in the air, strong and great in the tackle, but it also looks like he is very comfortable on the ball and has an excellent range of passing and a surprisingly low centre of gravity at times, considering how tall he is.

I don’t think he’ll be involved on Saturday or against Real Madrid, but I could very well see him play away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League in a couple of weeks time.

It really has been an excellent window for Celtic, and both Ange and Michael Nicholson deserve huge credit for that.

Check out Abildgaard in action below for a glimpse of what he will bring to Celtic.
