Talks Of An ‘Injury-Crisis’ At Celtic Is Fear Mongering Nonsense

A few Celtic players have pulled up with niggles during the international fixtures which has caused them to miss a game or a few training sessions.

The SMSM are reporting this as a “mounting injury-crisis at Celtic”.

Sure, if we had a squad of 15 players and had to play tomorrow it may be the case, but we live in reality and we have a very strong squad, two players for every position at least.

Starfelt was already injured and will probably be out for a wee while longer, I haven’t seen any exact timeframes on it recently.

CCV was supposed to be back training ready after the international break but rumours keep swirling that he will be out for 4-5 weeks, but that’s all they are, rumours.

Maeda, Giakoumakis, Turnbull and Haksabanovic (none of them who are currently first team starters by the way) all seem to have minor injuries and will have a good chance of being in the squad against Motherwell on Saturday, and will almost certainly be fit to play against RB Leipzig next Wednesday if needed.

Celtic have more than enough to beat Motherwell at Celtic Park on Saturday, even if every one of these players mentioned above doesn’t play.

The only real concern I have is the CCV injury and just how long he is going to be out for, but I’m sure the manager will clear that up in his pre-match presser on Friday.

Last season we had to play B team players in multiple different games due to injury, covid and not having enough first team players, that could be considered an ‘injury-crisis’ for those positions that we had no first team squad players available.

If two or three first team players aren’t fit for us to play Motherwell at home at the weekend and two or three other first team squad players play instead, that isn’t an ‘injury-crisis, that’s football!

And this squad is more than strong enough to deal with that.
