Shortly after Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes spoke this afternoon at his pre match press conference where he stated that the club and SFA are still investigating the matter, the SFA have now acted.
Radio Clyde have confirmed that the ex-Rangers player has been charged with using ‘sectarian language’ after a video of him online showed him shouting abuse at a Celtic supporter who was winding him up.
The report states that the SFA have recently changed their rules this year on offensive language, and if found guilty, Lafferty could face a MINIMUM 10 MATCH BAN.
It looks to be a an open and shut case, with the comments from Lafferty very clear to hear on the video.
A hearing for the case will be help on the 20th October.
It should be noted that Lafferty has still not apologised over the incident.
