So today was the day that the work-shy chaps at the SFA finally got their a*ses into gear to dish out the punishment for Kyle Lafferty’s sectarian/anti-Irish racist verbal attack on a Celtic fan which was caught on video while the former Rangers striker was on international duty last month.
Lafferty was handed a 10 match ban, which sounds like a fairly large ban until you find out that was the bare minimum that he could have been suspended for, and that Aberdeen boss Jim Goodwin only received two games less of a ban for calling Ryan Porteous a cheat.
Lafferty has now finally apologised over the incident, and it only took him a month to do so!
While waiting a ridiculously long time for the hearing to take place, Lafferty has continued to play for Kilmarnock, with his goal helping to knock Dundee Utd out of the League Cup quarter-finals the other night.
And now the irony is that after his ban for sectarian abuse against a Celtic fan, the first game back will be the League Cup semi-final in January against the hoops!
Only in Scottish football eh!?
Celtic fans had plenty to say in reaction to Sky Sports News reporting on the ban this afternoon.
