Where do we even start with the latest stupidity that has come out of the mouth of so called ‘football expert’ and Talksport and Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness?
His career and reputation really has nosedived in the past year or so.
And I don’t mean as a human being, don’t even get me started on that, but just in terms of his football punditry, it seems Souness can’t go a full week without coming out with some utterly bizarre statement.
There was a period of time where he was regarded as a very good pundit. He was straight talking and told the truth, he didn’t sugar coat anything and he was quite refreshing to listen to, especially when a lot of other pundits at the time on Sky were more reserved and just didn’t want to offend anyone.
But he really has declined into a bit of a laughing stock in recent times.
From claiming to be a proud Scotsman but then in the same breath telling us that he wanted Ukraine to dump Scotland out of World Cup qualification, to his bizarre obsessions with players like Paul Pogba and Lisandro Martinez and of course most recently on his utterly hateful and spiteful comments towards not just Celtic supporters, but the club itself in the aftermath of the death of The Queen, where he took it upon himself to sit with the rest of the English media on his high horse.
And now he hasn’t just descended into bad take after bad take.
No. It is worse than that. He has descended into telling bare faced lies in the media about Celtic.
“They [Rangers] have lost the games against Celtic which puts them [Celtic] in a very good position.“
“But they [Celtic] have got away with a couple of very interesting VAR decisions.”
“It could have been a very different story if they had gone against them.”
Is what Souness told BBC Scotland when trying to reassure the Ibrox supporters that there was still a title race at play.
It is a really weird thing to say, especially considering that Celtic have not had one singe controversial VAR decision go in our favour. In fact, I can’t even think of a single VAR decision that has actually gone in our favour!
Yet, there is huge conversation in Scotland at the moment because the complete opposite of what Souness claims has actually occurred, and there have been numerous controversial decisions that have gone against Celtic, even to the point where our rivals are admitting it and laughing at the fact on their forums, and the Celtic board have written to the SFA for an explanation.
Take a look below as Celtic fans let rip at Souness for his ridiculous and factually untrue comments.
