Much to the delight of our rival fans and the disappointment amongst the Celtic support, The Ibrox board have finally taken the decision today to sack manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.
Despite being hailed as the next Pep Guardiola by the erect SMSM when wee Gio was announced as Rangers manager, the Dutchman has been a complete failure at Ibrox after losing the league last season to Celtic and currently sitting nine points behind Ange Postecoglou’s side in the title race.
And also despite those wild comparisons, the football on display at Ibrox has been completely turgid for a very long time now, and Rangers fans often complain about lack of ideas, slow build up play, and doing nothing but fire in tons of hopeful crosses into the box game after game.
Van Bronckhorst becomes the second manager that Ange Postecoglou has now seen off during his short time at Celtic after he sent Steven Gerrard and assistant Michael Beale running down to Aston Villa, where Gerrard has subsequently been sacked for being an utterly useless manager.
Celtic fans were of course desperate for Van Bronckhorst to stay, hilariously singing his name inside Celtic Park before we kicked off against Ross County before we played to go 9 points clear after Rangers had just dropped points against St Mirren.
But whatever happens, I’m sure Gio will not be the last manager that Big Ange sees off during his time at Celtic.
