Canada World Cup star Alistar Johnston could not help himself smiling from ear to ear as he opened up on the speculation that he is on the verge of signing for Celtic.
Speaking ahead of Canada’s World Cup group stage tie against Croatia on Sunday, Johnston quipped that the messages he has been receiving over the links to Celtic “nearly broke my phone!”.
The deal isn’t officially over the line yet, but by the looks of things everything is agreed to, and an announcement will hopefully be made by Celtic soon.
Transfer guru Fabrizo Romano claimed on Twitter today that Celtic have reached a “verbal agreement” with his club Montreal, and it is suggested the deal may be around the £5m mark, although this has not been confirmed yet.
Johnston is a tall, aggressive and fairly quick right back who is calm and composed on the ball.
