Celtic left it late once again to seal a late winner after returning captain Callum McGregor scored a thunderbolt into the bottom corner on 87 minutes to secure a 1-0 away to Aberdeen and retain our 9 point lead at the top of the SPFL table.
I agree with Ange Postecoglou’s post match comments that Celtic were dominant and we weren’t really troubled, but I think like most supporters have also been saying today that we were very poor individually, especially in the final third.
We looked VERY rusty in the final third.
Countless times we over-hit our crosses, and when we put in good once that flashed across goal, there was never any takers to put the ball in the back of the net.
Our shooting, bar McGregor’s goal, was absolutely diabolical today. Constantly blazing shots wide and over the bar, like we had spent the last month getting shooting tips off Ryan Kent!
I thought we defender well today though, and in particular I was impressed with Carl Starfelt, who handled Miovski brilliantly today, and he has been a real goal threat for them this season and is currently the SPFL top goal scorer.
I’ve thought this for a good number of months now, and it seems by the reaction on Twitter today, the Celtic support in general seem to agree that we must sign a new striker in January, and a high quality one at that.
Kyogo isn’t doing enough in games, Giakoumakis isn’t either when he starts or when he comes off the bench, especially compared to last season, their overall play isn’t good enough and both miss far too many chances.
The chance Kyogo missed today was absolutely criminal and from what I am seeing online, the goodwill that he has build up from last season is starting to subside, and he is no longer getting a free pass from supporters like he had been getting previously.
