It has been a hugely exciting day with Celtic announcing the signing of Japanese defensive midfielder Tomoki Iwata this morning, as well as being liked two two South Korean players, which you can read about here: Korean Striker Speaks Out On “Dream” Celtic Move – Champions 67
And the excitement continues, as Celtic are now being linked with a move for Switzerland World Cup midfielder Ardon Jashari, as reported by Sky Sports in Germany.
The 20 year old is already captain of his club FC Luzern, and he is also attracting interest from Frankfurt, Leipzig, Napoli and Leeds Utd.
To be honest, considering we have just signed Iwata and are looking at the other Korean midfielder, it seems unlikely that we would go out and pay £6m for this guy as well.
And with the other clubs mentioned, all of them would be able to offer the player far more in terms of wages, and of course the chance to play in a much stronger league than we could.
But who knows, Celtic is still a massive club of course, and at just 20 years old, he might prefer to take the step to us first, rather than jump straight from playing in the Swiss league to the EPL, much like Matt O’Riley did when turning down EPL interest to come to us.
At Celtic, he has the chance of working under a top manager who makes players better, especially younger players like Jashari is, and he will have the chance to play in the Champions League, play in front of 60k supporters and win trophies.
As I said, I don’t think this one is likely to happen, but never say never!
