Despite it only being the 2nd day of the transfer window being open, it almost feels like the rumour of South Korea World Cup star Cho Gue-sung coming to Celtic is turning into a bit of a transfer saga.
That is because, it has been about a moth since it came out that we were interested in signing him as the news came out around the time of South Korea’s match against Ghana, where Cho scored two great headers.
Celtic though were apparently interested and talking to Cho’s representatives a good while previous to that game, before the World Cup in Qatar even began.
Celtic fans seem really excited by the prospect of of Cho coming to the club. but previous reports indicated that we faced stiff opposition for his signature from Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Rennes.
In fact, earlier today it was reported by a Turkish outlet that Cho had agreed to join Galatasaray, and that they just needed to agree the fee with Cho’s current club.
However, Cho’s agent has today come out to dismiss those claims, and in hugely exciting news, has claimed that “The only team Cho is interested in is Celtic” and that they are currently in talks for Cho to join the hoops!
We definitely do need another striker, probably two in fact, especially if Giakoumakis leaves like it seems he is going to in this window, and Cho look to be the perfect replacement for him.
It was also be a massive signing for Celtic in terms of our marketing in Asia, as Cho has become a superstar in Korea since his appearances in the World Cup.
