Chris Sutton’s Brilliantly Accurate Summary As Celtic Seal Late Derby Draw

Celtic needed an 88th minute goal from Kyogo to seal a 2-2 draw at Ibrox this afternoon in a game that most Celtic fans will be relieved we ended up getting anything from after a shocking 2nd half display.

A fantastic run from Maeda mixed with a dreadful pass and shocking defending from Morelos and Tavernier saw the Japanese man calmly slot past Alan McGregor in goals after 6 minutes.

Two real turning points in the game in the first half was Greg Taylor going off injured to be replaced by a half fit wantaway Josip Juranovic at left back, as he left natural left back Alex Bernabei on the bench.

The second was a dreadful mistake from Joe Hart, who not for the first time showed a shocking lack of concentration which almost cost Celtic a goal.

God knows what was said in the Celtic dressing room at half time, but the players came out thinking it was going to be a cake walk, whereas ‘Rangers’ came out all guns blazing.

A dreadful mistake from Juranovic getting turned inside out but Sakala after a long ball, then Alistair Johnston, who was otherwise sold today, sat off Ryan Kent and allowed him to curl the ball into the top corner to make it 1-1.

‘Rangers’ were then awarded a penalty after Carl Starfelt stupidly lunged in and brought down Sakala in the box, with Tavernier slotting the pen into the top corner leaving Hart with no chance.

And after a slate stramash in the box, the ball fell to Kyogo who slotted the ball away to get his first derby goal, and one that may just end up being one of the most import goals of his Celtic career.

Chris Sutton summed up the game perfectly today.
