This news might have been celebrated by some sections of Celtic supporters two or three months ago, but after his recent fantastic performances for Celtic since returning from the World Cup with Japan, including his great goal at Ibrox on Monday and his wonder strike at Easter Road, most of us probably do not want to hear that EPL clubs are sniffing about Daizen Maeda.
It is being reported today by ‘in the know’ Celtic journalist Mark Hendry that Southampton will be coming up to scout Maeda during our league cup semi-final against Kilmarnock on 14th January at Hampden Park.
Hendry also writes that he is unsure at this current time if Celtic and Ange Postecoglou would even entertain bids for the Japanese star.
I would assume like ever other Celtic player though, he is available for the right price, but there is no indication as of right now as to what that price may be.
Southampton are also interested in Celtic players, and they know they can trust that we will sell them quality players, just like with Victor Wanyama, Stuart Armstrong, Fraser Forster and of course Virgil Van Dijk.
Southampton are on the lookout for new attackers to fight off relegation as they are currently one of the favourites to go down this season, being in 20th position in the EPL table.
