Tornio Back In Race For Celtic Star

Celtic fans have been patiently waiting for an update on the exclusive that Stephen McGowan printed in the Daily Mail last night that Josip Juranovic was on the verge of joining Serie A side Monza on an initial loan until the end of the season with an obligation to buy for £7m.

Interestingly, no other big hitter in the football journalist world would confirm the story, which for me, raised suspicions about it’s accuracy.

Another ‘in the know’ Celtic journalist, Mark Hendry at Football Scotland, wrote earlier that he believed that report from McGowan was “not quite as cut and dry” as it seemed.

You can read more on Hendry’s response so far here: “Not Quite As Cut And Dry” – ITK Celtic Journo Gives Juranovic Hope – Champions 67

And perhaps he is about to be proven correct, as The Record have an exclusive tonight confirming that fellow Serie A side Torino are now back in the hunt to sign Juranovic as their first choice right-back Valentino Lazaro is going to be out injured for the next 2 months.

The report also claims that Juranovic is the club’s No.1 target as their Croatian manager Ivan Juric is a great admirer of the Celtic right-back and they also state that Juranovic would prefer to go to Tornio over Monza, as they are further up the table and of course the links to their Croatian manger.

Celtic need to be smart here as it seems we have at least two concrete sides interest in Juranovic.

We should not rush to accept the first bid thrown at us, lets see how many more clubs come out the woodwork over the next few days.
