Well I think it’s fair to say that Kyle Lafferty won’t be bouncing about smiling and doing star jumps tonight!
After the tasteless comments from Kilmarnock manager Derek McInnes in midweek about how eager the proven sectarian bigot was to play against Celtic on his return from his ten game suspension, it serves them both right that Lafferty only ended up playing 45 minutes.
And what was his contribution?
To deflect the ball into the path of Daizen Maeda to score the opening goal to help Celtic on their way to a 2-0 semi final triumph, and book our place in the final on 26th February.
That’s karma for you!
I thought that was a good game today. As I suspected, Big Ange got the decision to start with Juranovic spot on today, as he played very well throughout.
He needed a chance to put that Ibrox display to bed and he certainly did that today.
I thought Maeda was terrific one again and he was so unlucky that his second goal, which was an absolute peach, was ruled offside.
And what a player we have in Aaron Mooy. He really is a class footballer. He must be an absolute joy to play with.
And Giakoumakis popped up to grab our 2nd to seal the game in the 95th minute, with rumours that Celtic have agreed a fee with Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan, it could well be his last game or perhaps his last goal for Celtic.
You could definitely see how much he enjoyed it with his celebration!
Interestingly, after the game, Ange confirmed he is looking to bring “one more in” when talking about incoming transfers.
It could well be a case of Celtic only willing to let Giakoumakis go once we have another striker in.
But for now, we can just enjoy being in yet another final, one step closer to winning our first trophy of the season.
