It’s fair to say that Liverpool born Liam Smith had a very eventful weekend!
On Saturday night he fought Chris Eubank Jr at the AO Arena in Manchester in front of a sold out crowd and scoring a big upset win.
Most fans and pundits alike expected Eubank to be too much for Smith and likely win by knockout, but it was Smith who ended up stopping Eubank Jr to the surprise of many, especially as it came in only the 4th round of the bout.
Smith then made further social media headlines the following day after his big win after he turned out for his Liverpool based Sunday league team, Custys FC.
Unfortunately for Liam though, he missed a last minute penalty in the game!
And it turns out there is a Celtic connection there, I’m not sure how it originated, but Custys FC play their games in Celtic strips!
As you’ll see below, Smith was playing in the third strip at the weekend but there area also pictures of him in previous kits and and their Twitter bio has a header picture of their players in the hoops.
They also have a three leaf clover in their club crest.
The only difference appears to be that they have bought the sponsor free strips and applied their own sponsor to the shirts.
