Former Celtic star Josip Juranovic has made an excellent start to his Union Berlin career, after he recently joined from Celtic in a deal believed to be worth up to £10m.
Some supporters were shocked when it was discovered that Union were the club that Juranovic was off too, not realising that they were doing very well in the current Bundesliga season and were aiming for a Champions League spot.
And they are still on course to do that tonight, as they beat Werder Bremen 2-1 away from home, moving up to 2nd place in the league, incredibly, only 3 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
And it was a debut to remember for new boy Juranovic, who started the match at right wing back in a 3-5-2 formation.
It was his corner on 46 minutes that assisted Union Behrens to slot the ball home, which is unusual to see as I don’t remember Juranovic ever taking a corner for Celtic, so perhaps we had been missing out on his ability from that position all this time!
Unfortunately, there seems to be no footage of the assist and goal anywhere just now to post alongside this article.
From what I gather though, Juranovic had a great game and this is confirmed by the fact that he was Google’s highest rated player of the match.
