Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano was the first to break the story of Celtic’s Croatian right-back Josip Juranovic’s move to Union Berlin.
It was a surprising move to many Celtic fans and also to many English Premier League fans who had watched Juranovic start against Brazil at the World Cup as they expected him to be heading to their league during the window, with reports that both Chelsea and Manchester United were interested in the player.
But I think now Celtic fans are realising the move to Union certainly doesn’t lack ambition from Juranovic, as they sit only one point behind league leaders Bayern Munich and have a great chance at least of getting Champions League football next season.
Before he sealed his move to Germany, it was reported that Juranovic was awaiting an offer from Man Utd as they had expected to either sell their right-back Wan-Bissaka and bring in Juranovic to replace him.
However, that offer from United never came, and Romano has opened up on the reasons why, claiming that Juranovic was a “serious option” but ultimately, due to Wan-Bissaka’s impressive form in January, they decided to stick with the player.
