Celtic Sign Key Southampton Scout In Excellent Twist

Celtic recently added City Football Group’s Joe Dudgeon as our lead first team scout, but manager Ange Postecoglou was not finished there.

In an excellent twist, he has now recruited Southampton scout  Kevin Hamill, who was influential in bringing former Celtic players Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster and Virgil Van Dijk to St Mary’s, according to Football Scotland.

The scout was also influential in bringing in former Celtic keeper Artur Boruc to Southampton from Fiorentina and current ‘Rangers’ player Steve Davis, when he was out of contract in 2012 after the old Rangers football club were liqudated.

Hamill was Southampton’s Scottish football scout and worked in the English Premier League for over 10 years, so he comes with huge experience and knows the types of players that will be suited to the game up here.

Hamill obviously knows a player when he sees one, and convinced Southampton to sign Van Dijk when many other clubs were unsure of his ability as he was playing in Scotland.

And of course, Hamill was proven correct, as Van Dijk went on to star for Southampton and was then sold for £75m to Liverpool and became the best defender in world football.

Exciting times at Celtic as we continue to go from strength to strength under manager Ange Postecoglou.
