Tweet Highlights Jota’s Incredible Contribution Since Joining Celtic

Twitter account ‘Everything Celtic’ has highlighted Celtic’s Portuguese star Jota over the weekend and his incredible contribution to Ange Postecoglou’s side since joining this summer on a permanent basis from Benfica.

Jota opened the scoring from the penalty spot against Ross County on Sunday on the stoke of half-time to put us 1-0 up at the interval, before Argentine left-back Alexandro Bernabei scored a screamer to seal another three points in a 2-0 victory.

The tweet pointed out that since joining on a permanent deal, believed to have been around ยฃ6.5m, Jota is averaging a goal or assist every 94 minutes for the club in the Scottish Premiership.

Despite the likes of Abada and Haksabanovic coming on in games and doing well this season, manager Ange Postecoglou has found it pretty much impossible to drop the Portuguese winger.

And you can’t blame him, because as those stats show, when he’s on the pitch he’s normally directly involved in a goal!

Even at times when he’s not having his best game, he never lets his head go down. He continues to demand the ball and tries his best to create something.

Jota isn’t seen as a leader, but that right there is a real leadership skill, to lead by example like that and continue to do everything in your power to help the team, even when you may be low in confidence that day or having a dip in form, a lot of players hide when that happens, but not Jota.

Even stepping up to the plate and taking our penalties when Mooy is out, takes some bottle, because as you can tell from his last two efforts, I don’t think he’s a naturally good penalty taker, but he’s stepping up for the team and putting them away nonetheless.

And looking forward to the derby game this weekend, where he scored that wonderful goal in our 4-0 win the last time we played ‘Rangers’ at Celtic Park, you wouldn’t bet against him adding to his tally against them on Saturday!
