Celtic Women’s Ace Admits “Sometimes You’ve Got To Play The Opposition And The Refs In This League!”

Celtic Women’s ace Caitlin Hayes was quite rightly frustrated after her perfectly good goal was chopped off for no reason whatsoever against ‘Rangers’ Women tonight in a 1-0 defeat for the hoops which could prove pivotal in the title race and also for Champions League places.

Celtic player Natasha Flint stood her ground in front of the Rangers goalkeeper with her hands by her side, as Hayes headered the ball into the net.

Apparently, simply standing your ground is a foul these days according to referee Steven MacDonald, who will no doubt explain to us his love of St Mirren in a few years time…

Hayes, speaking to Sky Sports on the disgraceful decision said:

“I’ll keep it simple. I don’t think it’s a free-kick.”

“But, sometimes you have to play the opposition and the refs in this league.”

“I’ve seen it back and I don’t know where the free-kick’s coming from, but he (the ref) clearly had other ideas and that’s why he disallowed the goal.”

Asked if she received any explanation as to why the goal was disallowed, Hayes responded:

“There was no explanation, as usual with Scottish referees, without sounding bitter.” Hayes said smiling.

Perhaps it is simply too much to handle for the powers that be that Celtic win absolutely everything at every level this season.

With the men’s team on the verge of an historic, world record 8th treble, Celtic Youths beating Rangers in the Cup final 6-5 last night, Celtic Women also beating Rangers women would have only further added to their meltdown.
